ECKO -- NOTICE We wanted to provide a further update around the current situation with Ecko and where we stand. They have stated that the, “closure or transfer process will be completed by 30/08/24” and that, “all user funds are safe.” Since they have announced their imminent closure we have been working feverishly to figure out solutions for our community around EckoWallet and EckoDex. The Dex conversation has been figured out and we’re supporting a community built, truly decentralized, zero-fee Dex built by Amir and Pascal from the Kadena Ecosystem. They are in conversations with the founders of Ecko to hopefully implement proper licensing and provide keys to bring the liquidity over to the new community run version. This Dex is moving forward regardless but the hope is Ecko will realize providing access to those things will help the teams ensure a smooth transition for the community. There doesn’t seem to be anything on the table for EckoWallet as we have other wallets available currently with Koala, Linx, Chainweaver and Zelcore as well as the upcoming release of our Kadena MetaMask Snaps integration. If the community would be interested in stepping up and forking EckoWallet they are more than welcome to do so as it’s an open source product. As a Layer 1, we provide infrastructure for individuals in the community to build what they like in our ecosystem. We do provide grants to certain business entities but we do not have anything to do with the business decisions they make or how they operate their companies. We know Ecko is quietly working on a transition plan and we hope to learn more from them on or before 30/08/24. Kadena doesn’t have any more information than this and anxiously await them to come forward and do what they can to make things right by the community who has supported them over the years.
